LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Damage to the I-15 bridge in Apex is forcing the Nevada Department of Transportation to close roads for reconstruction.

Long-term closures will start in February and is expected to last until late April. This will impact Las Vegas Boulevard under I-15 and associated on and offramps.

Officials say they will lower Las Vegas Boulevard and reconstruct ramps.

“Due to the damage to the I-15 bridge by high-load impacts, structural repair was deemed appropriate and necessary,” NDOT says.

With the road lowered, officials say the minimal height clearance will be increased and could reduce future impacts.

A full list of the closures are listed below:

Full Closure: Las Vegas Blvd (SR-604) under I-15

  • Duration: 24/7 from Sunday, Feb. 18 at 7:00 p.m. to Tuesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m.

Southbound I-15 Off/Onramp Closure: Las Vegas Blvd

  • Duration: 24/7 from Monday, Feb. 19 at 5:00 a.m. to Friday, March 1 at 6:00 p.m.

Northbound I-15 Off/Onramp Closure: Las Vegas Blvd

  • Duration: 24/7 from Wednesday, April 10 at 5:00 a.m. to Monday, April 22 at 6:00 p.m.

Motorists in the area during these closures could expect to be redirected to the Speedway/I-15 interchange (Exit 64) and the I-15/US-93 Interchange.

This closure is part of the ongoing I-15 widening project, NDOT says.
